Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer
We love our volunteers at Leonardo's and have many opportunities for people who want to help us enrich and inspire children! We offer lots of fun and rewarding ways to donate your time and talents. If you're willing to help out regularly, we have something worthwhile for you to do!
Volunteering at Leonardo’s is a great way to get community service hours, whether it be by court order, for school credit, or for a community/extracurricular organization like Girl/Boy Scouts. Volunteers can also be among the first to learn about job openings here at Leo’s!
Some roles you may be able to fill include:
Some things to keep in mind if you decide to volunteer at Leonardo’s:
Hours and availability must be determined in order to coordinate times when volunteers will be most needed. Age of volunteer will sometimes dictate availability of volunteer assignments. Volunteers are responsible for tracking and reporting hours worked. Volunteers who do not show up for agreed-upon shifts without letting Leonardo’s know may not be asked to return to volunteer.
If you are interested in volunteering, please join our "volunteer mailing list" below or print and fill out the appropriate volunteer application and deliver it to the museum.

DaVinci Day Camp Intern
Join the intern program! The intern program is specifically for junior volunteers between the ages of 13 to 15 who help with our spring break and summer day camps.
These interns do not need a parent or guardian with them, instead they are supervised by day camp staff. Interns volunteer for a week at a time and may select either morning or afternoon shifts. If we suspect that an intern is too young for this program, we reserve the right to request proof of age or ask them to leave the program. Our interns are invaluable to Leonardo’s, and we wouldn’t be able to do DaVinci Day Camp each year without their hard work!
Prospective interns must provide a completed intern application and a program release form filled out by the custodial parent(s). Bring printed copies to the front desk or email them to [email protected] and we will be in touch about an interview. If you would like to volunteer for Leonardo’s at other times of the year or if you are an older student interested in a formal internship, please fill out the appropriate volunteer application above!

Leonardo's Docent and Long-Term Volunteer Program
The word docent comes from the Latin word “docere”, meaning “to teach”. During the 1800’s, it was used to describe lecturers not on the salaried staff of an institution, as well as private/volunteer tutors. Today, the term is used by many museums to describe the trained volunteers who provide educational services for the museum visitors. Other terms include tour guide, interpreter, and volunteer educator.
At Leonardo’s, a docent means someone who commits to reliably volunteer at Leonardo’s for at least eight hours a month for a minimum of one year. Prospective docents must also attend training sessions and provide immunization records.
All required forms are enclosed in the Docent Information document below. If you are interested in our docent program, either bring completed forms to the front desk or email them to [email protected]. Once we review your application, we will be in touch regarding an interview. A dedicated docent or long-term volunteer is worth their weight in gold to organizations like Leonardo's. If you love Leonardo's and want to help propel Leo's into the future, this might be a great fit for you.
